Eve of Destruction has lost the host so we had to transfer the site to our german mirror.
Unfortunateley we had no chance to get an actual backup of the forums and all data is lost. But we try to get a new forum online soon.

Meanwhile Sgt. Killboy has re-joined the EoD dev team.

The Ilyushin 28 (NATO report name 'Beagle') very probably saw no or just limited use in Vietnam.

While testing around with some textures i stumbled over a watertexture and created a new normalmap.
The short video shows the results together with blur effects of Enbseries mod.

We have released a small hotfix for EoD-BF:Vietnam, called v0.20 !
The patch just fixes some AI problems, improves the mortars and fixes some confusing soldier spawnpoints.

Time for an update soldiers !

We're proud to present Eve of Destruction classic v2.30 with a brandnew AI feeling.
Before we start...
here are some interesting statistics of the game.


EoD was first released in 2003 so this is year 8 of the modification !
8 years of fun gaming and still for free

Ideas and work of about a hundret people ran into the mod.



And here some facts of what we've modified all these years for Battlefield 1942:

- 208 maps all including multiplayer support
- 8 teams (US, Special Forces, NVA, Vietcong, ARVN, Australian Forces, French and Pathet Laos)
- 117 drivable vehicles (41 air, 48 land, 28 sea)
- 33 stationary weapons like cannons, mortars, anti-air
- 46 handweapons
- 436 static objects like buildings
- 106 vegetation objects with some hundret variants
- 152 effects

Wow ! That's a lot of stuff. So if you are tired of playing any other Vietnam game and want to drive some more vehicles don't hesitate to install EoD

Why full and no patch release ?
All maps - repeat - ALL MAPS- have got new AI code and 90% of the maps have been touched somehow. Modifications here, adjustments there.
Also the code of the teams and objects has been overworked.
So we had to decide if we have a patch of 3000 MB or a full version of 3300 MB.
A patch would be more trouble than it's worth so we made a full.



Known issues
The new antiperson mines (Claymore) don't work properly on dedicated servers (LAN and internet).
The enemy get's blown up and killed but no explosion effect and sound will be shown.
This is only on dedi server but it works fine in Conquest, Multiplayer and COOP on local PC.
We're still looking to fix this bug somehow but it seems to be a hardcoded problem for servers.

Some short news without pics and videos.
We have added a new team to the EOD mod: Pathet Laos.
Laotian soldiers supported the Vietcong defending the Ho Chi Minh trail so we have decided to take it into the mod for some special maps.
You may find some screenshots in EoD-BF1942/armies section !

Also there are new screenshots of the overworked map Aftermath and the new maps Train Attack and a nightvision map called Tet Offensive Night.

Todays news is a bunch of short videos.

The Train Experiment
The train is not yet perfect but it works. Unfrequently it jumps the rail but most of the time it's on the right track
The first video is a lap around the new map 'Train Attack' and one round is almost about 5 minutes !




Smoke grenades
This is a new tactical weapon offering completely new ways to attack the small entrance of Hue City




Molotov Cocktail
Burn baby burn.
Another new weapon for v2.30.
A bot throwing a Molotov Cocktail towards a M-132.




Claymore and AP mines
Nothing is impossible. Apache Thunder has coded AP mines for BF42 and we have implemented the code in EoD so we can use AP and claymore mines.
The code is very well and it ensures that only enemies will detonate on the mines, but no teammates !
