Hi, I'm new to this forum but not to EOD, but I have a problem: when I try to play EOD on anny server the game sais error wrong version, do u want to update?
Plz help me I allready contacted the help support of EOD but it didn't help because everything from my game was the same as their EOD and game and they suggested to post it on the forum so I did it.
Plz help me out those who also have windows 7.

I have checked his installation.
The files seem to be the same and the folders are ok.
Filesizes, dates, BF1942 and EoD, all seem to be the same like mine.
Windows XP-32 works fine, Windows 7-64 crashes with "wrong version" error.
Also he tried compatibility mode, admin rights and much more.
PB disabled but nothing helps.
Any ideas, anyone ?

He installed the Game with Compatibilitymode WinXP and Admin Rights?
I have Win7 64 and it works fine.

I've got some questions/ideas:

• To everyone: It could be the 64 bit. Are there others running EOD on Win7 64?
• Are you able to play the unmodded Battlefield 1942 online?
• Are you able to play EOD on different servers?
  
• Did you install Battlefield somewhere like "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlfield 1942"? Some FAQ's* advise you not to.
  
• Instead, they say, you should choose a custom folder like "D:\Games\Battlefield 1942".
  
• I doubt this has to do anything with Punkbuster, since Punkbuster is disabled on hslan. Nevertheless, the same source as above suggests updating PB manually.*
  
• If everything else fails, google once more

Is this really an EoD error?

You'll get this message "Wrong Version! Do you wish to update?" when you've forgot to patch Bf1942. If you have an early CD then you only have version 1.0 or 1.2.

First patch with this one:

I have never been asked do you want to install with administrator rights but I can laungh with right click and then admin rights
I can play BF1942 only but not on all servers
I allready changed my install from old one to C:\Battlefield 1942
I updated PB and tryed but didnt work so deactivated
And for the ones who think it I bought the game didnt get from friend or something I have the anthology version
And I did patch BF1942 correctly and Lotte even checked it I think and if possible how can I reinstall the patches?

An EOD fan.

Just run the patches once more.
But we've checked that, the files had been correct.
I think it's something with the admin rights.
This is very tricky with Win7.

Because you just can play BF1942 on some servers it still sounds as if the patches are not correct (though the sizes and dates were correct).
There are some (maybe a handfull) servers with older BF versions online.
And as mentioned before... a No-CD can destroy everything.

If I were you I'd buy a small harddisc and install it as a second primary disc in slot2.
Then install XP and select the primary boot device 1 or 2 via BIOS.
10 GB would be enough lol.
Better than any virtual machine or incompatible compatibility mode

Ok, and when you have started the game you have the text BF1942 v1.61 that shows in the left lower corner?

Which version of Win7-64 do you have?

Ultimate, Professional or Home Premium?

I play on Ultimate and Professional with an account with administrator rights without problem. Even pb works for me

I have no NO-CD but I have the game installed on 2 of my pc's and it doesn't work on both
I repatched 5 times and doesn't work
Is a USB-stick also good?

seems like these are only 1.6 servers
It seems like I patched the 2nd one first because its smaller and was faster downloaded then the 1st but if I repatch shouldn't it be solved?

If it says v.1.6 then the patch doesn't work and No-CD might be the problem.

When you install the v.1.6.19 patch, does it install automatically or do you have to choose were to put the files?
e.g the folder were you've put the game.

Try make a clean install without NO-CD patch and then install the two BF1942 patches (biggest one first), then install EoD.
Change to run as administrator and Windows XP SP3 compability mode, works for me.
If you really need a No-CD patch there must be a newer one out there somewhere

Ok I reinstalled the game but the v1.6.19 installer sais you have version 1.06.101 of battlefield 1942 installed this patch upgrades version 1.00.001 to1.06.001 installation will now close
Can it have something to do with the bf1942_mod_manager I used to have?

Or that the WWII Anthology already is 1.06.001 and you only need to install the incremental patch.

So actually I never could have installed them in the wrong order?
But it now has a sort like error like I had with the 1.6.19patch

I've got some of the WWII Anthology but I'm not sure if they are the same version all of them.
Start the game and check which version you are running. 1.6 or 1.61.
If it says 1.6 try to install only the incremental patch and see if it changes to 1.61.

I've seen somewhere that you can't patch the game when you've installed mods. I'm not sure if that's true though

Ok, here's the long hard way as cracks always are unsupported

Uninstall all mods and BF1942
Delete the folder where the game was installed as your patched NO-CD dll's might still be there.

Open the Registry Editor through run command in the Start Menu (regedit.exe)
Make sure you know what you are doing so you don't delete something that you shouldn't


Go to (double-click on the separate folders)

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EA GAMES

right-click on:
Battlefield 1942, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 XPack1, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 XPack2, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 The Road To Rome, choose delete

Go to
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games
right-click on:
Battlefield 1942, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII, choose delete
Battlefield 1942 The Road To Rome, choose delete
There are some ergc subfolders in these three folders that has to be deleted too.


Now all the legitimate register keys are gone.

Let's hope that the crack hasn't messed up anything else.

Restart

Make an new install

And... don't use NO-CD patch again, it's not worth the re-install effort.

Finally

Make an image of your CD and use DaemonTools so you can prevent your CD & drive from damage.
My first BF1942 CD exploded (!!! yes it really did !!!) in the drive after some years of using it, lol.

You mean image like a photo? and deamon tools? whats that? what does it do?

CD Image: If you want to copy a CD, you use a CD burning application. The application copies the contents of the original CD into one file, the CD Image. This file is then written onto a blank CD.

Many applications also allow you just to do the first step - to create a CD Image. In ImgBurn* for example this feature is called "Create an Image File from Disc".

But what do I do with a CD Image?

Daemon Tools: Software like Daemon tools can open the CD Image and emulate a real CD Drive. So you open (mount) an Image and Windows thinks, you put a real CD into a real CD drive.

This comes in handy if you are too lazy to switch CD's all the time or, like in lotte's case, you don't want to damage your hardware. There might be some other useful cases for Daemon Tools, too. Hehe.
